February at Honey Blossoms Farm
🧇 Wednesday Waffles
Michelle, Beth, and I have been friends since the pre-teen years. We have kept in touch over the years. Life has taken us different directions. Florida, North Carolina, and Tennessee - but we’ve stayed connected in a way that’s become one of my favorite weekly rhythms.
A little over a year ago we started a fun way to Gather. This was an idea I saw on a social media post, not sure of the original credit.
Every Wednesday, we send each other a three to four minute video that is unfiltered, real, just…..life.
We call it our Wednesday Waffle.
It’s like brunch — but virtual.
We talk about what’s going on in our lives.
Something funny that happened.
Something hard.
Something we’re excited about.
If we miss Wednesday?
It becomes a Thursday Scramble.
Or a Friday French Toast (or Frittata if you’re fancy).
The point isn’t perfection, it’s consistency.
It’s such a simple thing, but it keeps us woven together in the middle of busy careers, families, travel, and all the layers of life.
Gather Your Besties
In the middle of all this snow not much is going on outside at the farm which gives me more time to get in my head and think about things.
February tends to focus on romantic love…
but I’ve been thinking about something just as important — friendship.
The besties.
The ones who show up.
The ones who you can pickup right where you left off, no matter how long its been.
This year my word is Gather, and I’ve realized how many different ways that shows up in my own life.

We celebrated turning 50 with a Disney trip!
We can still “Kick and Stretch” just like Sally O'Malley!
We’ve celebrated milestones.
We’ve walked through hard seasons.
And that little weekly Waffle? It keeps the thread strong.
Friendship doesn’t maintain itself.
It has to be tended — just like flowers……..
☕ Gal Pals
In 2020, a little group formed called Gal Pals. At a time when everything seemed isolating and surreal, this little group of friends helped each other stay grounded.
It’s memes. Encouragement. Random updates.
Sometimes dinners out.
Mostly just staying tethered through our little messenger group.
Not every friendship looks the same.
Some are weekly videos.
Some are group chats.
Some are monthly breakfasts.
🥞 The Roadside Daylilies
The first Saturday of each month, The Roadside Daylilies ( this name is a story for another time :) Gather for breakfast — high school friends, spouses, and new connections added in. This also stated a little over a year ago and people show up as they can.
We have also started some seasonal gatherings :
• Fourth of July
• Fall gathering
• Christmas party
Nothing fancy. Just intentional.
💛 A Galentine’s Idea
Instead of waiting for someone to buy you flowers…
What if you gathered your besties and bought them together?
Coffee. Bouquets. Glass of wine. Flower arranging. Photos. Laughter.
Make it your own version of a Wednesday Waffle — just in person.
